DEBATE TECHNOLOGY AS A TOOL FOR ACTIVATING SPEECH ACTIVITY OF FUTURE TRANSLATORS

The article explores the role of debate technology as an effective tool for activating speech activity of translation students. Modern scientific approaches to the use of debates in teaching foreign languages are analyzed, in particular regarding the development of communicative, discursive, analytical and critical competence. It is substantiated that participation in debates stimulates the development of spontaneous oral speech, forms the skills of reasoned expression, critical analysis of information and intercultural communication. The psycholinguistic, social and pedagogical aspects of the influence of debates on students’ speech activity are considered, and methodological conditions for the effective implementation of debates in the educational process are determined. The importance of debates in the formation of professional competencies of a translator is emphasized, such as quick decision-making, adaptation of speech to the audience, critical thinking, teamwork and stress resistance in communicative situations. The article provides an analysis of scientific publications of Ukrainian and foreign researchers, which confirms the practical effectiveness of debate technology in higher education. The study demonstrates that the systematic use of debates contributes to comprehensive development of speech competence, increasing motivation for learning and the formation of professionally significant skills for future translators. Particular attention is paid to the selection of thematic blocks for debating language practice classes, because it is the content of the topics that determines the quality of students’ linguistic and analytical immersion in a professionally oriented environment. The proposed set of ten debate topics demonstrates an interdisciplinary approach and is aimed at the development of academic, ethical, sociocultural and business-oriented vocabulary. It is confirmed that each of the topics contributes to the formation of key competencies of future translators and communicators: argumentation, logical thinking, analysis of evidence, work with abstract concepts, the ability to operate with professional vocabulary.
