THE SOCIOCULTURAL IMPORTANCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN THE ERA OF GLOBALIZATION

Abstract

This article discusses the most important and key importance of knowledge of foreign languages in the conditions of globalization of modern society. It is emphasized that the knowledge of foreign languages eliminates language barriers, opens access to information, which contributes to the professional growth of specialists. It is emphasized that the competitiveness of a specialist is determined not only by his professional skills, but also, first of all, by the knowledge of foreign languages and his/her ability to work in an international multilingual environment. The authors report that in the era of globalization and the information society, knowledge of foreign languages is a necessity, not an advantage. It is shown that students of technical specialties should pay special and primary attention to the professionally oriented direction of training when studying a foreign language in a university. The authors consider the features of the process of teaching foreign languages in a technical higher educational institution at the present stage, modern methods and technologies, as well as problems and prospects for the development of this area. Particular attention is paid to the consideration of innovative approaches aimed at increasing the effectiveness of teaching and motivating students. It is noted that the use of innovative approaches in teaching foreign languages in higher education contributes to increasing the effectiveness of teaching foreign languages and motivating students.
