Abstract

In the article were investigated the German terms with components-proper names that exist in the field of gastroenterology. The concept of eponymous term has been identified in medicine. Represented terms-eponyms in gastroenterology are analyzed in different ways. Professional names were classified by conceptual-semantic features. Types of eponyms (anthroponyms, toponyms, myphonyms) which are typical for different lexical-thematic groups were selected. The productivity of
Latin-Greek, German, British and French lexemes in eponymous terminology was determined on the basis of etymological analysis of appellative components. Structural models of medical terms with proper names were considered. It was established that German eponymous terms come into lexical-semantic connections of various kinds. Hyper-hyponymic relations, the phenomenon of eponymous polysemy, homonymу and synonymу in the sublanguage of gastroenterology were considered in specific examples. Analysis of scientists’ opinions on the role and place of proper names in professional languages allowed todetermine the advantages and disadvantages using eponymous terms in German gastroenterology.
