Abstract

The article focuses on the syntactic structure or polypredicative complex sentences from the point of view of X’-theory, a module of the Principles and Parameters theory. Being immediate constituents of the polypredicative sentence three and more clauses are regarded as phrasal categories characterized by the endocentric and recursive character. The author claims that such constituents are finite clauses which have same-name categories on the next stages of expansion. Dependent clauses perform the roles of sentential actants, circonstants and adjuncts which are embedded one into another and are the projections of their nodes.
