Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the concept of existential dialog in the philosophy of Martin Buber and its influence on our way of perceiving the world and our own personality. We will examine the concept of “I-Thou” as a way of perceiving reality through interactivity with others and their unique being. We will also show how Buber's philosophy emphasizes the importance of empathy, moral responsibility, and the development of interpersonal dialogue.
Our sense of existence is often tied to our ability to interact with others and the world around us. In a world of interactive communication that shapes our identity and self-realization, Buber's philosophy of dialogue opens up important perspectives for understanding our existence. His concept of “I-Thou” and “I-It” not only reminds us of the importance of interaction between people, but also deepens our perception of the essence of reality. The concept of “I-Thou” indicates reciprocity and interaction between subject and object, where each party recognizes the uniqueness and value of the other. This allows us to feel empathy and emotional connection with the Other on a certain level.
On the other hand, the concept of “I-It” indicates alienation, when we perceive the other as a separate entity. The world of the It is immersed in a space-time continuum, external and indifferent to all the people, things and phenomena that exist in it. This can lead to a sense of remoteness and a crisis in interpersonal dialog. Thus, understanding these concepts helps us to better understand our relationship with the world around us, contributing to the development of learning and perception of reality, and the emergence of the concept of “I-We”, where the individual self-integrates with the consciousness of other identities or personalities.
