Abstract

The article is devoted to the investigation of the representation of the concept «music» in the story «The Murderer» by R. Bradbury. It emphasizes that this concept is key and universal but it acquires the individual interpretation in R. Bradbury’s story. Frame analyses is used while the considering of the text. The peculiar attention is paid to such subframes as «musical instruments», «transmitters», «musical compositions», «composers» etc. The explication of the concept in the story is analyzed with the help of toponyms (titles of the musical compositions are among them), antroponyms and stylistic devices such as simile, metonymy, onomatopoeia. Among antroponyms names of composers, main heroes and nicknames are enumerated. It is underlined that all transmitters and people addicted to them are compared with the objects of flora and fauna (insects, animals, fish, bird, fruits) and mythological beings. It is concluded that the lexeme «music» acquires the new authorial meaning, that is unfreedom, dependence.
