FOREIGN WORDS AS A VARIETY OF LEXICAL INTERFERENCE

Abstract

The article deals with foreign language words as a kind of lexical interference. Different approaches to defining the concept of language interference are analyzed, its types and features are defined. It has been found that lexical-semantic interference is the result of language contact and is directly dependent on bilingual. The mechanisms of penetration of foreign words into the recipient language and the reasons for their rooting are investigated. It is emphasized that lexical borrowing is a creative process, not a mechanical transfer of a word or phrase from one language system to another, and the language sign is created by native speakers as needed. The essence of changes in contact languages ​​is determined by the ratio of their structures. The more the same or similar patterns, structural elements, roots, etc. in both languages, the more favorable conditions are created for the development of interaction processes. When borrowing, a foreign language affects the recipient’s language system and is affected by that system. It is noted that not all phenomena of lexical interference are fixed in language. Only those elements of a foreign language that are inherent in the characteristics do not contradict the specifics of the units and the rules of the given language are rooted. Otherwise, they remain on the periphery of the system and subsequently either assimilate or disappear altogether. It is concluded that foreign words are a positive result of lexical interference, and borrowing foreign-language elements is a natural process inherent in all developed languages ​​of the world, including Ukrainian.
