The study sheds light upon the component structure of the lexical meaning of compound term-nouns in electrical engineering. In modern linguistic lexical meaning is considered as five-component structure that consists of denotative component, which characterizes the correlation of the word with the object indicated by it; significative component by which the meaning of the word is related to the concept; emotional and connotative component, with emotionally-expressive and evaluative reflection of an object and phenomena of the outside world; a structural component that indicates the relation of the word to other words of the language with which it may engage in syntagmatic, epidegmatic and paradigmatic relations; pragmatic component, is additional to the content of the subject information about the participants (taking into account age, profession, social status etc.) and conditions of communication (time, place, target of the author etc.).
