Data Sharing Policy

The data openness policy of “Agora. Social Sciences Journal” aims to ensure the transparency, reproducibility, and integrity of research. It complies with the COPE principles and general international open science practices.

Purpose and General Provisions

The publication encourages authors to make the research data underlying their results openly accessible in a manner that ensures compliance with ethical requirements, legislation, and principles of open science.

Requirements for Authors

  • Authors must provide information on the availability of research data in the corresponding section of the article (Data Availability).
  • Research data should be deposited in reliable open repositories that ensure long-term storage and accessibility of the data.
  • If the data cannot be fully disclosed (including for ethical, legal, or confidentiality reasons), the authors must clearly explain the reasons.

Types of data that may be disclosed

  • Statistical datasets.
  • Analytical and methodological materials were used.
  • Code, software, or scripts required to reproduce the results are not available.
  • Materials used for conducting the experiments.

Repositories and Formats 

The publication recommends that authors use internationally recognized repositories (e.g., Harvard Dataverse) that provide the assignment of unique identifiers (such as DOI). 

Data should be presented in a format that allows for long-term use.

Access and Licenses

Authors can choose the type of license for their data, provided that it does not conflict with the open access policy.

Preference is given to licenses that allow free use and distribution with the proper citation.

Data Verification by the Editorial Team 

The editorial team may request the primary data during the review process to confirm the validity of the results. All received data will be kept confidential and will not be shared with third parties.

Ethical restrictions 

Data containing personal or sensitive information must be anonymized or provided in accordance with legal requirements. The authors must ensure that the data comply with personal data protection regulations.

Policy Violations 

In the event of data manipulation, data concealment, or misrepresentation, the publication will act in accordance with the COPE guidelines, including the possibility of rejection, correction, or retraction of the article.
